JavaScript | MongoDB | Express | React | Node JS | Ruby on Rails

I am a web developer proficient in JavaScript, Express, React, and Node JS. I have built full stack websites and web apps, worked with databases such as MySQL and PostGreSQL, and have a background in graphic design. I worked in music publishing/licensing prior to web development and started a company that represented nearly 80 artists and placed over 2000 pieces of content in television, movies, and web ads. I have built responsive websites, communication apps, and taught JavaScript to children at the Academia Internacional in Mexico.

Web Development

I have been programming for 2 years, attended bootcamps at Epicodus in Portland, App Academy in San Francisco, General Assembly in Santa Monica, and I taught an intro to JavaScript course at the Academia International in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. I enjoy building responsive web sites/apps with a clean visual style that are easy for users to navigate.

Recent Projects

Etches - Natural Language Processing

Etch is a web app that utilizes IBM’s Watson, the super computer, API to accurately analyze language in context and reveal underlying emotions. The idea was originally to provide a service for those with social disabilities such as Asperger Syndrome where sometimes what is communicated does not line up with the intent due to overlooked social cues and norms. By contextually analyzing text we can identify primary emotions being broadcast such as fear, joy, and anger.

We quickly learned that the app was fun to use analyzing all manner of text. Soon users were checking out their favorite song lyrics, poems, and passages from books. The results were generally very surprising and fun. The app was built as a 4 person team at General Assembly, Team Sherlock, and I was lead app designer and in charge of the API design and visual design.

Neighborhood Good - Community Portal

Neighborhood Good is a community portal for the city of Glendora, CA. A place for residents to share community events and posts of interest to the city. It is a simplified Facebook of sorts with a tight focus on building a better local community. The page allows users to browse posts, create and edit an account, create/edit posts.

This community portal was built using a full MERN stack (Mongo DB database, Express back-end, React front-end, and executed with Node JS). The site has full authentication and is encrypted with bcrypt and is easily extended to cater to other communities. The site comes with a full host of city links to keep the community informed of upcoming votes, available after school programs, and city meetings.

GDesign - Showcase for Graphic Designers

GDesign is a web app and database that makes it easy for graphic designers to showcase work, their own websites, and information while also keeping the process of finding a graphic designer as easy as possible for potential customers. The layout clearly showcases the designers style and work in a minimalist style that lets the art shine through.

As a designer it is easy to setup an account, post work, information, and your location quickly and intuitively. As someone looking to hire a graphic designer it is easy to browse through our catalogue of designers to find a style that matches what you have envisioned and contact them. No account is needed to simply browse the site, removing another barrier for potential customers.
